He became a member oft the Basel Percussion Ensemble conducted by Paul Sacher. In 2008 he founded the Percussion Band „DeciBells with whom he had concerts in the majer European Music centres as well as tours in India, China, Argentina and Taiwan. Siegfried Kutterer has a great interest in music from outside Europe. He attended seminars on Indian music with Professor Hans Oesch at the Institute of musicology at the University of Basel. In Chennai, India, he studied Mridangam and the theory of the South Indian carnatic classical music with Sri T.V. Gopalkrishnan. Inspired by his rich experience and knowledge of Indian and Balinese music, Siegfried Kutterer began to compose himself. The result has been works strongly influenced by his experiences with other cultures.
