Meditation no. 1 by Casey Cangelosi is a snare drum solo that was commissioned by Majestic for the U.S. release of the Prophonic snare series. This unique solo employs a variety of contemporary techniques. This fascinating solo is sure to challenge the performer while captivating the audience.

This piece highlights many unconventional methods for playing the snare drum, such as striking the rim, flicking the drum head, and playing with fingers. While being very avant-garde in style, this piece still captures many old drumming rudiments, such as paradiddles and para-paradiddles which must be playing as blisteringly fast speeds.
