Description
The 30-minute composition "Die Zeit" was written for the farewell concert of percussion conductor (and my former teacher) Jo Zinzen, commissioned by the Percussion Ensemble of Fanfare Eensgezindheid Maasbracht-Beek. A combination of percussion, mixed choir and children's voice, has always been Jo's great wish. The three parts "Vergaanheit", "Heute" and "Zukunft" represent, as it were, the different phases of life. Not literally, of course, but as a reference. For example, in the first part, fragments of drum band marching music are used, which were written by Jo in the 80s and 90s. Lyrics such as "Die Träume meiner Kinderzeit" also refer to the past. The second part shows the hectic pace of the present day. A busy life, but also with a reference to seize the day, live now! The text is sung "heute ist heut!". The third and final part is a reference to what is to come, because time does not stand still. What will the future bring us? A child's voice suddenly sings: it is time to start something new....
