Program Notes

A Duet for Marimba and Piano The composer writes: "The themes and materials for this work originally came from one of several algorithmic preludes I composed and performed with synthesizers and a computer software tool of the late 1980s’ called M (a preview copy of which can still be downloaded at cycling74.com).

"The snappy dance-like folk character of the tunes reminded me of Irish gigs and the spirited dancing of the 'Old Country' of my own heritage. The title comes from an old Irish proverb that shows how strong and seductive an Irish dancer can be."[1]
