Program Notes

Night Wind (2021) for one percussionist playing vibraphone and four flowerpots was written for Peter Jarvis for his “Year of the Vibraphone:” a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the invention of the instrument.

The music is a blurry memory from a late night in the harbor on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. Total darkness. Unseen wind moving boats, ropes, and metal fasteners against the bollards. Standing in a personal eerie stillness amidst this windscape.

Dedication: for Peter Jarvis
