4 metallic keyboard percussion instruments (crotales, bells, vibraphone)

drum sounds (i.e. tom-toms)
ringing metal sounds (i.e. cymbals)
hand drums (high, medium, low)

Program Notes

You enjoy a lot of freedom when performing Batterie Diabolique. Instrument choice is intentionally indeterminate, plus there is room for improvisation should you wish. One possible solution includes using brake drums for the dry metal sounds (anvils would also suffice), tom-toms with snare sticks for the drum sounds, and cymbals with snare sticks for the ringing metal sounds. The high, medium, and low hand drum parts also use hand drums of your choice and the articulation of each part is at your discretion. The mallet parts will be fine on marimbas and bells; yet, if possible, Mallet 1 will be especially effective on crotales at letter E and on kalimba at letter J.
