I think this book is great for beginning and intermediate timpanist because it has a good amount of exercises and then a difficult study that follows and really focuses on what the student has just learned. Of course students can practice wrong, but this book is very clear in the instructions and the exercises are in an order which one can improve slightly one step at a time, so basically if the student follows the book correctly they will improve their skill.
