Program Notes

Composed in 1974, 'Music for a Summer Evening' is the third of Crumb's four 'Makrokosmos' works. It takes its cue from Bartók's scoring in his Sonata for Two Pianos and Two Percussion (albeit with a more extensive range of percussion instruments) and lays out what Crumb described as a 'cosmic drama' over its five movements.[1]
