Overview

Gottlieb, Beth. Masterworks for Mallets: 50 Classic Masterpieces for Mallet Keyboard Percussion. Row-Loff Productions, 2006.

This book has arrangements and transcriptions written by composers in the Baroque and Classical Periods. They are all two mallet etudes for the xylophone, but they can be played on any mallet instrument. This book will help the student practice the mood and character of these time eras when mallet instruments weren’t actually given a part to play.

Reviews

Student Reviews

I think this book is important for the professional musician because most instruments did have a part to play in the Baroque and Classical era and we should be able to play the same repertoire. Also, there is a lot of music theory that came from these time periods that percussionists could work and improve on. Although, it’s not exactly working on any particular technique, but the book is good for what it is intended for.
