Program Notes
Yasutaki Inamori's Japanese Folk Song Suite I is a collection of three short marimba solos written for Naoko Takada, each based on a traditional Japanese folk song. Mother's Song is written in a very permutational style, closing with a tasteful little chorale. Red Dragonfly is a flurry of rippled chords and quick arpeggios up and down the keyboard. Bonze at the Temple is march-like in style and is more bombastic than the other two movements.
