Description

Spike is a piece for the developing percussion ensemble using commonly availabe untuned percussion instruments. The work contrasts unison ensemble sections with more soloistic, antiphonal material to help students to develop both 'groove' playing and counting / listening skills. All parts utilise a range of dynamics to encourage players to develop control and tone at differing volumes. A variety of player skill requiring advancing players and the bass drum and cowbell parts being able to be performed by students with a more basic skill level.
