Description

Chinese Folk Songs Suite was commissioned by my mentor, Professor Li Biao, for his percussion concert with the Berlin Philharmonic Percussion Section at the Hong Kong Arts Festival 2025.

Scored for percussion sextet, the work presents five representative Chinese folk songs: the Jiangsu folk song Jasmine Flower (arr. HE Fang), the Guangdong folk song Colorful Clouds Chasing the Moon (REN Guang), the Xinjiang folk song Girl from Dabancheng (WANG Luobin), and the Sichuan folk songs Kangding Love Song (WU Wenji & JIANG Dingshan) and Joyful Sun Coming Out (JIN Gu).
