There are a number of Japanese children's songs such as "Omocha no cha cha cha" (Toy Dance Cha Cha Cha) where toys start dancing under a spell. This composition depicts such a scene. The work is consists of five sections. | |||
"Overture" (Midnight) evokes a scene at midnight when the toys come alive at the chime of the clock. "Robo's March" depicts a motorized robot toy walking awkwardly. "Dance of the Dolls" shares the loneliness of a doll that is no longer being used. "Building Block Puzzle" shows the difficulty of puzzles in asymmetrical meter. "Toy Train" is the last scene. It depicts a fast running train with a whistle. After passing railroad crossings and tunnels, the music comes to an exciting conclusion. | |||
