Nico's musical story started with his fascination as a child with drums and drums. He became a member of the local drum band 'De Heidebloem' and after that his passion was unstoppable. At the age of 15, he decided to study percussion at the Muziekhumaniora (later Musart) in Hasselt. In 1999 he obtained his 'Master of Music' diploma. This was later followed by a First Prize in Chamber Music and a Specialization in Percussion (marimba & vibraphone). In his early twenties he was active freelance at the Vlaamse Opera, Muntschouwburg and toured for a period in Germany, Austria and Belgium with Helmut Lotti. With his band 'Palomine' he achieved a lot of airplay in the period '05 - '12 on National radio in Belgium and the Netherlands (Radio 1, Studio Brussels, 3FM Netherlands,...) and Television (TMF, JimTV, Provincieshow , ChannelM studios Manchester...) He is currently a full-time teacher of percussion and group music at the Art Academy Noordlimburg (KANL) in Pelt. In 2013 he founded the percussion group Vibracoustic in collaboration with the KH St Laurentius Bocholt. Nico composes and arranges music for percussion ensemble and solo percussion, and works closely with DMP – Dutch Music Partners. He is also active in various bands: Backyard Giants - Dixie Rose - Mina's House Rats - Dag Anniek
