The piece is playable on two marimbas (low F & 4 octave). Players should use graduated rubber mallets (medium to soft) appropriate to register. Guatemalan latex wrapped mallets are preferable. Players should find the inherent dynamic requirements of each part/phrase/cell within the larger marked dynamics and improvise the micro-dynamic content throughout constantly interacting with the other players. Treat each part as a solo and then combine these interpretations to create the trio. The piece should have a flexible groove much like a Bach cello suite. Sixteenth notes (i.e. double strokes) should be slightly accented in an uneven “sloppy” double stroke with emphasis on the first note and nearly ghosted second note. | The piece is playable on two marimbas (low F & 4 octave). Program Notes
