'''There and Back''' is a palindromic study in minimalism. The piece is written in four sections of equal length, each divided by shifting the key up a minor third. After the first two sections of the work develop an insistent five-note motif (and get there), the third and fourth sections of the work reverse until they have returned all the way to where the work started (and have come back). This work attempts to find a balance between calm meditation and rhythmic drive.
