Quartz Mountain, composed for the 2024 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute percussionists, draws inspiration from the breathtaking beauty of Quartz Mountain State Park in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. The work captures the essence of the park’s twin peaks through sweeping melodic lines, crescendos, and decrescendos, mimicking the natural rise and fall of the landscape. Scored for bells, vibraphone, chimes, xylophone and marimba, Quartz Mountain offers a stunning auditory journey, bringing the beauty of nature to life through music.
