LAPQ has earned widespread recognition for its dynamic surround sound recordings produced and recorded by Sono Luminus Records. Their seminal album, Rūpa-Khandha, was the first 7.1 surround-sound recording of percussion chamber music. It received multiple nominations in the 55th GRAMMY Awards, including the prestigious category of Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance. Since 2009, the Grammy-nominated Los Angeles Percussion Quartet (LAPQ) has established itself as one of the leading ensembles of its kind. Dedicated to commissioning new works for percussion, LAPQ formed to embrace American West Coast musical traditions of artistic independence and cultural inclusion.

LAPQ’s 2014 release, The Year Before Yesterday, spotlighted music by three generations of Los Angeles composers. The album was hailed by the New York Times as "atmospheric and... supremely melodic music." Their latest two-disc set, Beyond, featured performances of new works from Reykjavík, New York, and Los Angeles, and was highlighted on National Public Radio's “Top 10 Albums of 2017” list.

LAPQ is committed to sharing its deep knowledge of percussion music with young composers and performers through commissioning projects, master classes, workshops, and direct creative collaborations.
