== Program Notes ==<br />
Gridwork (2019) for taiko drums, marimba, and organ was commissioned by Rhonda Sider Edgington with support from the Special Projects Committee of the San Francisco Chapter, American Guild of Organists.<br />
<br />
The two taiko drum parts may be played by any kind or number of drums (including Western drums or two taiko players on a single drum) or by any number of players. The rhythms in the first section (“Atmosferico”) should be played as written. In the second section (“Molto allegro”), the players should begin with the notated patterns, but they may feel free to substitute other compatible patterns or elaborate as the piece progresses. (It is also fine to play the written patterns for the entire time.) (The organ and marimba will continue to provide the basic “grid” as written.)<br />

Only basic dynamics are provided for the second section. The overall sound should be loud, energetic, and rhythmic, with the dynamics increasing even further towards the end.<br />
