	This book is for a beginning student. It teaches how to read music, the basics of music theory, and how to develop the keyboard technique. There is also a CD/DVD which has recordings of the music in the book that the student can play along to. This is great because it’s a real percussion ensemble playing real percussion instruments. This will help the student listen to the others playing along and be able to notice if they are playing the correct notes and counts. This is also a workbook that can be written in to learn to draw a treble clef, draw notes on a staff, write in counts, learn note names, and learn key signatures. This is a book that a student is guaranteed to learn from because it has so many things to play along with, write out, and it makes the student do the work. Also, there is a small section on beginning the timpani which explains where to play and how to play.		This book is for a beginning student. 			I think this book is fantastic because of how involved the student has to be in the book. It doesn’t just have music to play, it makes the student write in the book and do hands on learning for music theory. This is for a younger beginning student. The CD is helpful because there is an ensemble in the back ground playing for you, so you can listen and play with the percussionist and then the next track is the same song without the mallet part so the student can do it by herself. <br>
