Description

Marakesh is a work entirely in oriental style. Marakesh is a city in western Morocco and is one of the four royal cities. Although the work does not have a direct programmatic slant, it conjures up all kinds of images of the city. The audience imagines themselves at the bazar with the many stalls selling goods or sees the many street artists on a square, including snake charmers. In the instrumentation and choice of picking material, an attempt has been made to approach the oriental sound as closely as possible.
