Description

The tranquil percussion ensemble Thank You by Ivan Trevino was written for Walker Valley High School, featuring significant use of bowed vibraphone and a cajon-driven groove. The metallic voices take care of the simple melodic content (often split between players), while the marimbas provide layered background ostinato and a bass line. The cajon and an optional percussionist provide a rhythmic basement for the middle of the piece. Opening and closing with an angelic character, the piece transitions into a middle section that is reminiscent of Reggae. Thank You would be very appropriate for any high school or young college group.
