Performance Notes

Percussion 1: The floor tom should be on the left of the snare drum, raised on a stand or riser if needed to make the drums even in height. The hi-hat should be on the right and behind the snare drum. These can be reversed for left-handed players. The hi-hat clutch can be locked in a closed position.
Percussion 2: The concert tom-tomss can be set up low to high from left to right for right-handed players.
Percussion 3: The congas and bongos both should be set up with the low drum on the left for right-handed players. The bongos should be set up above the congas with a tilt toward the player. Beads of the drumsticks can be wrapped with rubber bands (or some companies make sticks that have tips covered with a piece or rubber) to avoid damaging the drum heads.
Percussion 4: Both bass drums should be played with two beaters. For the concert bass drum, the beaters should be large enough to produce a low fundamental tone but still be able to clearly articulate rhythms. The marching bass drum can be played with smaller marching bass drum beaters.
Percussion 5: The cowbell and woodblock should be mounted. The wood block should be played with rubber mallets
