Program Notes

Online Review:
Wooden Music is a duet for two marimbas. Each player must be adept at four mallet techniques and comfortable with different~tyles of music, including jazz. For the most part, player one has the melodic content while player two supplies the accompaniment; however, each player shares an equal amount of playing opportunity. All note patterns are idiomatic for the marimba and any player having a command of four mallet techniques would have no trouble playing the composition. The composer has written a clear and informative "performance notes" page and he suggests that the composition be memorized. Wooden Music is a well written duet for two marimbas that would be excellent in a college recital. It is approximately eight minutes long and is a grade VI, or college level. John Beck, July 1983 [1]
