Sand Blocks

Construction

A piece of wood with sand paper wrapped around the wood. Typically found in a woodshop to sand wood projects. Different grit sandpaper can be used to help with more projection. 80-120 grit would be a good place to start for a medium loud dynamic. I have had to make them as large as 8.5x11 inches (a full sheet of sandpaper with large surface area and out of 60 grit sand paper to get it to cut in an orchestra setting (FF dynamics). I would use 220 or so for softer playing passage if needed. A handle could be added to the block for ease in playing.
