Striking a unique balance between her creative outlets of performance and composition, marimba-focused percussionist and composer Carrie Magin has had successful performances in both the United States and Europe.  Her recent compositions include Charrette for Duo46 (violin and guitar) and Špilberk (marimba duo), which was composed/performed under the guidance of Keiko Abe in Villecroze, France.  Among other European performing engagements, Magin composed, performed, and organized the unique multi-media concert experience Marimba & Music (Brno, Czech Republic, 2007). Carrie Magin holds degrees from the University of Michigan (Bachelor’s Degrees in Composition and Percussion) and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (Master’s Degree and Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Composition) as well as certificates from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and the Janácek Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, Czech Republic.
