Georg Kröll was born in 1934 in Linz am Rhein. He studied piano with Else Schmitz-Gohr at the Cologne Musikhochschule and composition with Frank Martin and Bernd Alois Zimmermann . On July 6, 1962, he participated in the Bonn Stage for Sensory Perception - KONZIL with his work "Lieder nach Texten by Paul Pörtner, Helmut Heissenbüttel and Karl Krolow for soprano-guitar-piano" and "Sonata for alto flute". [1] Between 1960 and 1964 he was repeatedly participants of the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music and the International Music Festival of the Gaudeamus Foundationin Bilthoven. In this time also falls the beginning of his pianistic activity as an interpreter of New Music, as a chamber musician and Lied accompanist. He received the 1962 Förderpreis of the City of Cologne and was a 1969/70 scholarship holder of the Villa Massimo in Rome. Since 1970 he lives in Cologne , where he was a member of the Composers' Association Group 8 Cologne from 1969 to 1972 . From 1964 to 1997 he taught composition and music theory at the Rheinische Musikschule of the city of Cologne.
