Prof. Grela had his graduate studies at the Escuela de Música at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario, as well as private studies in composition and electroacoustic music with Francisco Kröpfl and instrumentation and orchestration with Washington Castro.

His honors include awards from numerous Argentinean organizations, as well as the Fulbright Scholarship (1978-79), which enabled him to study at the Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center, a fellowship from the Canadian government (1994), and the Premio para Música Sinfónica de la Sociedad Argentina de Autores y Compositores de Música (2003, for Imaginerías).

He is also active in other positions. He served as a choral conductor from 1963-66, as conductor of the contemporary music ensemble at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario from 1966-72, as conductor of the Contemporary Music Chamber Ensemble in Rosario from 1978-87, and as conductor of the contemporary music ensemble of the Universidad Nacional del Litoral from 1984-90. He served as president of the Agrupación Nueva Música de Rosario from 1981-85, as well as a delegate to the Argentine Federation of Electroacoustic Music in Santa Fe from 1984-95.

He taught as a professor of audio-perceptive training at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario from 1967-70, of composition, counterpoint and harmony at the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán from 1969-73, of harmony at the Conservatorio de Tucumán in 1972, of post-graduate courses in Salta from 1973-81, and of counterpoint, fugue and orchestration at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral from 1974-88. He has been a professor of various subjects at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral since 1974 and at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario since 1977, as well as director of its electronic music studio since 1998. In addition, he has been a professor of acoustic music, harmony and Latin-American music at the Instituto Superior de Música in Rosario since 1988 and of music history at the Conservatorio Provincial de Música in Pergamino since 1992.

He has also given numerous lectures in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Uruguay, and the USA and has been an invited professor at contemporary music festivals in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, El Salvador, Uruguay, and the USA. He lectured on Argentinean music at numerous universities in Canada and the USA in 1994.[1]
