Program Notes
Atenteben by Bob Becker is a piece for marimbas and drums inspired by the Ghanaian flute called the atenteben. The melodies are reminiscent of Ghanaian flute ensembles while the rhythmic patterns are loosely based on traditional Ewe dance music. This fun, happy piece will bring a smile to the players and the audience, while giving them exposure to African music.
