This is a lyrical piece with the soloist playing linear lines with short flourishes of notes as well as providing harmonic passages with one-handed rolls on the same note as the other hand continues melodic lines.  Exploring the theme through different movements which are all performed attaca.  This piece was composed for marimbist William Moersch and it is the second of three works that the composer has published after being inspired by Debussy’s Syrinx for flute composed in 1913.  This piece varys based on the repetition of the theme, as well as which movement the soloist is on, and the mood presented by the composer, with some passages being calm and serene and others being rather quick and exciting.  This piece is published by Novello, and a recording can be heard of Ji Hye Jung performing at Hahn Hall at the Music Academy of West California on YouTube.
