+ | This set of four-mallet solos is based on the melodies found in Cirone’s Orchestral Mallet Player, a beginning instruction book. There are 46 solos that range in difficulty from beginning to intermediate, and many have mallet suggestions employing the system “4-3-2-1” (low to high). The solos cover a variety of technical experiences, including single-line counterpoint between the hands, rotation strokes, double-vertical strokes and rolls. A variety of meters are employed, and some of the more advanced solos include cross rhythms. This is an excellent source for teaching four-mallet marimba performance, and the solos are suitable for the young student as well as less-experienced college freshmen. Although designed as an intermediate-level text, a 4 1/3 octave marimba is required for several of the solos. - George Frock, December 1994<ref>[http://www.pas.org PAS.ORG]</ref> | ||

This set of four-mallet solos is based on the melodies found in Cirone’s Orchestral Mallet Player, a beginning instruction book. - George Frock, December 1994[1]
