Student Reviews
This book is a medley of wonderful information. Regarding both playing styles, as well as historical information. Every musical example assessed in this book is given a detailed historical account. As each new style of playing is assessed, each instrument that is crucial to the style is given, before a groove that can fit into the drumset style of playing, the singular instrument(s) are given their own mini-section over how to play it. That way, the player can make their own decision about which instrument to replicate in the groove they’ll be playing. The author also includes pictures showing how to play the instruments as well as several pictures of traditional bands playing their respective styles. At the end of the book, the glossary includes a list of definitions along with the phonetics and a definition. Review by Trevor Landreth
