Description

L'angle d'incidence was written for the Limburg Association of Drum Corps. The French title refers to the different way in which the composer uses the small, five-note motif (4 notes down, 1 top), has used. By constantly changing something, or by changing or expanding the motif itself, or by adapting the environment, different perspectives are created. The motif is further developed in the opening of the composition. Ultimately, this motif is used as a theme in a 5/4 time signature. Here the countermelody is also introduced, which is later used as a waltz theme. The slow middle section provides peace, in which the motif is again audible. This motif returns in an extended form in the next 12/8 passage. The second theme (12/8 ) also uses the shape of the motif (group of 4 notes down, 1 up). The waltz theme appears again as an intermezzo, followed by the extended motif, after which the second theme sounds again.
