			Robert Snider, born and raised in Lincoln Neb., joined the Navy Band in 1981. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Education from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 1976 and a Master of Arts in percussion performance from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1978. Prior to joining the Navy Band, he was assistant director of bands and percussion instructor at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay, where he directed the marching band, concert band and 2nd jazz ensemble. He has performed as a soloist/clinician for the American Bandmasters Association, the Midwest Clinic, the Western International Band Clinic, the American Band College, and on three Percussive Arts Society International Conventions. He has had numerous articles published in Band World magazine and in the Percussive Notes. Master Chief Snider has also performed with numerous local symphony orchestras in Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Virginia and Maryland. His teachers include: J. C. Combs, Albert Rometo, Charles Owen, Gary Olmstead, Cloyd Duff, Dennis Kain.

			Master Chief Snider is currently the National Tour Director for the United States Navy Band, where he oversees the planning and implementation of 21-30 day national tours yearly, for 5 different Navy Band performing ensembles. Previous to that assignment in 1996, he was a percussionist and later timpanist with the Concert Band from 1981-1992 and drummer for the Country Current country/bluegrass band from 1992-1996.
